Do you find yourself dreading or avoiding conflict?
Or are you the kind of person who wades in and demands everyone just work it out?
Maybe you think conflict means something is wrong that just needs to be fixed.
Or do you really just prefer everyone to be nice?
No matter where we go or who we are, whenever we are engaged with others conflict can arise. And along with conflict comes inevitable miscommunication.
Yet there is a whole new way to understand conflict, engage with others with passion and respect, and to communicate with clarity and compassion.
Too many of us respond to conflict as we learned to as a child at home. We can easily respond in ways that are out of alignment with who we want to be and communicate from our inner child or teenager, without meaning to.
But we don’t have to continue doing it this way.
Conflict can be the door to something new and creative. It can signal that something is out of alignment and needs to be handled. And it can invite us into reflection and growth if we will allow it.
Conflict resolution must be done within oneself, and it may require us to communicate with another. How we do this makes all the difference.
