Joy Village

Journey Of Youth

Imagine learning who you are, being accepted just as you are, and discovering your own creativity at an early age. Imagine learning how to focus your thoughts, still your mind, and consciously create your life before you learn fear and limitation.

In Journey of Youth (JOY) Village, teachers work with kids and teens to foster and nourish their personal and spiritual growth. Our youth grow strong in their connection to Spirit and to their own inner wisdom learning and applying spiritual practices such as:

    • Meditation and Silence
    • Listening
    • Mindfulness
    • Affirmative Prayer
    • Gratitude
    • Affirmations
  • Visioning
  • Sacred Service
  • Giving and Receiving
  • Forgiveness
  • Journaling

Joy Village Teens

Wednesday Teen Experience

6:30-8:30pm

Teens work with advisors who guide them in deepening their understanding of core spiritual and leadership principles and how these are relevant to their lives. Wednesday evenings are also a time to work on event planning, camp preparation, fundraising and community service.

Youth Sunday Gathering

Check out our YOUTH IN 2019!

Each year, the youth of JOY Village create and present the entire Sunday Celebration experience. This is one of the most well-attended Sundays all year and for good reason. Youth of all ages assist in most of the aspects of the Sunday Celebration. Afterwards, JOY Village offers a community luncheon. The day finishes with a transformative workshop presented by the teens based on what they learned at CSL Summer Camp.

Give Your Gifts Of Service!

Sacred Service Teams

JOY Village is just that, a village. The heartbeat of our youth program is our sacred service team of both parents and community members who provide a wide variety of loving support. Parents are encouraged to provide at least 1 hour of service per month. Currently, we have openings on all teams:

  • Sunday Support: check-in, snacks, classroom assistance, behind-the-scenes support
  • Events Team/Community Building: social activities, luncheons, August Youth Service
  • Facilities and Administration: repairs, enhancements, playground, communications
  • Teen Team: camp, events, social, programming, service, fundraising

JOY Village is seeking childcare providers for CSLDallas events and substitute teachers for our classes. All providers must pass a criminal background check. If you are interested, please send an email to JOY@CSLDallas.org or speak to the JOY Village Director on Sunday mornings.

Doreen Fisher – Director of the Sunday Youth Gathering
Doreen Fisher was the inspiring director of JOY Village from 2014-2019. She is a musician, teacher, entrepreneur, philanthropist, songwriter and consummate learner. Mother to 3 amazing children, she has a passion for youth and finds it a calling to support the young in remembering how amazing they are and ensuring that they have the tools to keep the naysayers at bay while pursuing their dreams. Doreen loves providing an environment for children to learn, grow, play and develop in their own way, on their own path, and in their own time.

Volunteer Catherine Irwin helps in the Pond room.
