Hold the Vision of Love

Our love is most often expressed and challenged in our relationships, especially our most intimate relationship with our significant partner. This is the place where each of our personal realities that we are busily creating really bumps up against another’s reality that they are just as busily creating. It’s often great, and sometimes it’s a mess.

In a relationship there are actually three things going on – me, you, and this thing we call our relationship. One of the most challenges questions is “Who is responsible for what?” How easy it is to fall into victim and shame, or accuser and blame. Yet the truth is we are each 100% responsible. We are 100% responsible for our part. Relationships are a powerful crucible for profound personal growth and spiritual work if we are willing to engage in them from this point of view.

Then we get hung up on our need to change, fix, or make the other person over in our image and likeness. But they are their own person. This is where we confront our projections and our assumptions. We have to learn that we are not at all responsible for the other person’s life or their part in our relationship.

As we each pay attention to our own personal work, we can then set about working on making this third thing as sane, healthy and happy as we can. Learning communication skills is the best place to start, so we will be spending time this month focusing on our spiritually grounded, healthy communication.

Studies have shown that people are generally healthier and live longer in a committed, healthy relationship.  Karen and I will be sharing things we’ve learned and are practicing in our workshop on Spirit-Centered Relationships. We will be talking about various aspects all month. To support our work together, we have a great Book of the Month – The Seven Secrets to Healthy, Happy Relationships by Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. and Heather Ash Amara.

The tools and spiritual awareness we are studying all month are totally useful whether you are currently in a relationship or want to manifest one. So join us, every Sunday in February so we may Hold the Vision of Love in our lives!

The Seven Secrets to Healthy, Happy Relationships by Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. and Heather Ash Amara

Most of us yearn for fulfilling relationships. They provide unlimited ways for us to learn, grow, thrive, and have fun!

Yet, as we know, relationships aren’t always a “bed of roses”–especially romantic ones. They don’t make themselves, nor do they continue happily on autopilot once they begin.

In this one-of-a-kind book, bestselling authors don Miguel Ruiz, Jr. and HeatherAsh Amara share their seven secrets to healthy, happy relationships:

Commitment – Freedom – Awareness – Healing – Joy – Communication – Release

Understanding and enacting these principles can help you at any stage in your intimate partnering, whether you’ve been with someone for many years or are currently single and want to prepare for a relationship.

Make a commitment to read the book together this month and put these ideas into practice day-after-day and year-after-year.
