This has been an interesting and challenging year, in the world and in our community. Waiting on our permits to begin construction tested our patience and our faith. Engaging in a Diversity Initiative tested our ability to honor differences while affirming our deep belief in Oneness. Walking with our Centers for Spiritual Living international community toward “A World that Works for Everyone” in the midst of the social and political turmoil tested our commitment to and love for each other and this community. In every case, some of us thought we’ve gone too far while others of us have thought we haven’t gone far enough. Some of us have felt the need to engage while others have felt the need to pull back. Walking the line between bringing our spiritual principles and practices to bear on the conditions we are confronted with, while engaging in everyone’s human feelings and needs, tested our ministry. And through it all, we are seeing record numbers of visitors and our attendance is steadily growing.
CSLDallas has emerged stronger, more grounded, and more expansive than ever! Our community, leadership, practitioners, staff, and ministry have time and time again risen to the occasion, sought to apply spiritual principles and practices in times of difficulty, and reached out to one another for courageous conversations, understanding, and mutual support. This is what it means to be a spiritual community. This is what it means to live from our spiritual principles. This is how being part of CSLDallas strengthens our faith and deepens our knowing. We walk through the tests, with open hearts and engaged minds, willing to speak and to listen. We walk through the tests as human beings, with all our flaws, foibles and feelings, all the while knowing that we are spiritual beings grounded, guided, and sustained by the Presence and Power of the ONE Infinite, Divine, Perfect Reality.
While a few of us decided simply to leave CSLDallas, many others in our community have willingly engaged in the hard work of staying, moving through, and ultimately growing together. And isn’t this what it’s all about? We think it’s about learning the Science of Mind, we think it’s about feeling like we finally belong to community, we think it’s about volunteering or donating or leadership or doing in the world. But what it’s really about is discovering Spirit at the heart of life. To, right there in the midst of the difficulty, reach for a new, higher thought, entertain a new possibility, and apply a new, deeper spiritual idea. We think it’s about being spiritually fed but really it’s about being spiritually grown. That’s what it means to be in this spiritual community, in today’s world, together.
This year our Adventures in Spirit program is inviting us all into “Expanding to Infinite Heights” expanding our hearts, our minds, our lives, and our commitment, so that we, as CSLDallas, may reach toward the mountain top of spiritual awareness and be the Light of Love in the world. We are enriched because YOU are a part of our spiritual community. We are grateful to be walking this path with you. May we “Expand to Infinite Heights” together!
