June 17, 2016, marks the one-year anniversary of the brutal act of domestic terrorism which shattered the sanctity of Wednesday Night Bible Study at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C.

Faith Forward Dallas- Faith Leaders United for Peace and Justice, is holding an event, titled “Dallas Remembers: Charleston – One Year Later, A Celebration of Unity and Faith” at 11:00 am at Thanks-Giving Square.

This is a community-wide remembrance of the precious lives that were lost in June last year. Mayor Rawlings will give an opening remark and Dr. Ella McDonald, Presiding Elder – Greater Dallas District of North Texas Conference of the AME Church will be our keynote speaker.

Walking to the Chapel:

Walk along Pacific towards Ervay.  In the middle of the block, between Pacific and Bryan is the ramp that leads to the white spiral chapel.

Recommended Parking: Their website is www.thanksgiving.org.  There is an interactive link on the “Directions” tab that might be helpful.

Option 1:

Republic parking garage is located one block East of the entrance to Thanks-Giving Square.

The receptionist at The Square will validate your ticket authorizing a reduced rate of $7.00. There is no self-parking at this location.

Option 2:

Parking in the private “bus lane” on Pacific, is reserved for patrons of Thanks-Giving Square

The only way to access Pacific, a one-way street, is from Akard, also a one way street.

Make a wide left turn from Akard onto Pacific (crossing the DART tracks) moving to the right side of the Dart tracks. Immediately after the traffic light on your left, is the bus lane.

Option 3:

There a numerous open parking lots with walking distance of The Square.

Driving Directions for Republic Parking
From Woodall Rogers (going west)
Exit St. Paul. St. Paul is a one-way street. Stay straight and pass over San Jacinto, Federal and Bryan Street (DART Light Rail). Republic Center is immediately after Bryan Street on right-hand side. Valet parking is second entrance on St. Paul.

From Woodall Rogers (going east)
Exit Pearl Street. There is not an exit for St. Paul in this direction. Stay straight to Ross. Right on Ross and left on St. Paul. St. Paul is a one-way street. Pass over San Jacinto, Federal and Bryan Street (DART Light Rail). Republic Center is immediately after Bryan Street on right-hand side. Valet parking is second entrance on St. Paul.

From Tollway North of Downtown
Tollway south through main tollbooth and stay left, “Harry Hines/Downtown”. You will approach a split; stay left at “Akard/Saint Paul”, and continue south. St. Paul is a one-way street. Cross over Woodall Rogers Freeway and continue south on St. Paul street. Cross over Ross, San Jacinto, Federal and Bryan (DART Light Rail). Republic Center is immediately after Bryan Street on right-hand side. Valet parking is second entrance on St. Paul.
